The PTTK mountain shelter on Stare Wierchy is located at an altitude of 969 meters above sea level in the western part of the Gorce Mountains. It serves as a key hub for hiking trails, including the red-marked Main Beskid Trail. The first structure was built here in 1932, but the current building was constructed in the 1970s after the original shelter was burned down during World War II. This place attracts tourists with its unique atmosphere and expansive views encompassing the Tatra Mountains, the Beskid Wyspowy range, and Babia Góra. Thanks to its location on a picturesque meadow, the shelter is an ideal resting place for hikers heading towards Turbacz or visiting the area from nearby Rabka-Zdrój.
